New schools plan submitted
Proposals to build new schools in Derby with private money have moved a step closer.

The city council has now submitted the plans for the first three schools involved in the multi-million pound project.

The council wants to replace the city's most rundown and dilapidated buildings.

It is proposing to replace buildings at Sinfin Primary, part of the Merril College site and High View.

The planning applications for the individual schemes have now been submitted and the plans should be considered by councillors in the next eight weeks.

The authority also plans to build two new schools in the place of Wilmorton Community Primary and Southgate Infants as well as Hardwick Infants and Juniors.

It would all be paid for by private companies which would then lease the buildings back to the council.
