Derby City Council is hoping that it will get around 46m to carry out the work under the Private Finance Initiative. Five schools would be rebuilt including Merrill College and Sinfin Primary School. Councillor Chris Wynn, who is responsible for education, said: "One of the real challenges of a PFI scheme is to ensure that we have the contracts right first time and they meet the needs of the school and of the community. "For example, if the school has a chess club then we need to incorporate that within the terms of the PFI agreement." | See also: 08 Nov 02 | England 30 Oct 02 | England 05 Sep 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
