Recycling centre faces resident's anger
Cans to be recycled
Residents say the noise from the bottles and cans is unbearable
People in part of Derbyshire say their lives are being made a misery by a local recycling depot.

Those living close to the site in North Wingfield claim the noise made while bottles and cans are sorted is unbearable.

The site used to be a bin depot, but people living nearby say since its use changed they are being driven to distraction.

The North East Derbyshire District Council, which owns the site, said the contractor already has planning permission to carry out the work.

Application considered

But the county council says new permission must now be sought.

Some residents say the noise and dust created is making their lives difficult and want the facility moved to an industrial estate.

Peter Jenkinson, from the North Wingfield and Lower Pilsley Action Group, warned feelings in the area were running high.

He said: "People have been saying they will go down to the site with banners and get all sorts of people involved.

"I'm not sure at the moment this is the right way to go but clearly there is strong opposition and a lot of high feeling and the talk of barricading the site may come to fruition."

The county council has stated it expects an application in the near future which will be considered in the autumn.
