Boxing saves boy's life
Jack Hicton
Jack still dreams of being a boxing coach
An 11-year-old boy has said his life has been saved by the controversial sport of boxing.

Jack Hicton from Parwich in Derbyshire was born with a potentially fatal heart condition.

It was only picked up when he took up the amateur sport.

His main artery was blocked and it was spotted during a medical check at his local club.

Heart surgery

His father, John Hicton, said: "I think it's an incredible stroke of luck and I think if they hadn't of found out about it then sooner or later something quite serious could have happened to him."

While he recovers from life saving heart surgery he can only dream of being a coach.

He will never be able to box again, except in video games.

Jack Hicton said: "I'm very lucky to have picked it up and anything could have happened.

"It's saved my life."
