Text bulletins on flood recovery

Flood damaged Workington
Some residents have still not been able to move back into their homes

People affected by the floods in Cumbria are being encouraged to register for text message updates about the help and support available to them.

Residents and businesses in Cockermouth and Workington can sign up for the service, which will also provide information on the recovery work.

The towns bore the brunt of flooding in November, which caused millions of pounds worth of damage.

Many people have still not been able to return to their homes.

The text service is being delivered by Cumbria County Council in partnership with The Asia Project, which has been set up by Derwent and Solway Housing Association.

Updates will be given on work done by the county council and housing association as well as the district council, voluntary and charity organisations.
