The family of a 16-year-old who died in a car crash in Cumbria have paid tribute to a "happy go lucky" girl.

Michelle Taylor, from Greystoke, died when the car in which she was passenger left the road and ended up on a forested verge.

The accident happened at Storch New Bridge between Greystoke and Penrith on Wednesday evening.

The other occupants of the car, two men and a woman, all from the Penrith area, were seriously injured.

The family of the sixth-form student said in a statement: "Michelle was the life and soul of the party, who enjoyed life to the full.

"She was more than a daughter, she was a friend who will be missed by all of her family, especially her brothers.

"She was a happy go lucky person, who always left a mark wherever she went. A joy to be with, who would do absolutely anything for anyone."
