Jason Gardener said Birmingham's facilities appealed to US athletes |
More than 30 venues across the West Midlands are to be listed as prospective training bases for Olympic teams preparing for the 2012 games. A guide, published by the London Organising Committee (Locog), aims to persuade teams from around the world to use facilities across the UK.
Olympic gold medallist Jason Gardener was at the West Midlands' launch at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
Locog said 750 venues nationally were interested in being included.
The brochure will distributed at this year's games in Beijing and Sport England said it will help venues appeal to the international teams.

The US Olympic team has already agreed to use Birmingham as a base for the games.
Other venues to be considered include Draycote Water in Warwickshire, which could be used for triathlon training, Shrewsbury School for archery and fencing and University of Worcester for basketball, fencing, table tennis.
Bromyard Equestrian Centre, Cannock Cricket and Hockey Club and Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre are also included.
"What 2012 is, is a catalyst," said Debbie Jevans, from Locog.
"I think for those that get out there and are pro-active - as Birmingham already has done by getting the US team here - there will be huge benefits. Not just economical but cultural as well,"
Sprinter Jason Gardener said he felt it was testament to the city's facilities that the US team would be based in the second city.
"It shows that how special the facilities are but, also, it gives them an opportunity to experience the British climate, as not all athletes will be used to that," he said.
