The walk will take the men through the Lake District

Rick Allden and Peter Finch, both 23, are planning to trek 180 miles, from Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire to St Bees in Cumbria.

The pair will give any money raised to Leukaemia Research, in memory of a friend who died of the illness while they were all at school together.

The men are setting off on the walk on Saturday 26 March.

Mr Finch, a window fitter from Toll Bar End, said they were both affected by the loss of their friend, who died when they were students at Whitley Abbey Comprehensive School in Coventry.

"Since that experience we appreciate how fortunate we are and how much we take for granted," Mr Finch said.

"All it takes is for people to make a donation big or small as each contribution is a step towards helping cure both children and adults with these blood cancers."

Their route will take them through the North York Moors National Park, as well as the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Lake District National Park.
