Hi-tec boost for breast screening
Woman being screened for breast cancer
It will mean a fast and reliable breast screening service.
Women in Coventry and Warwickshire could be among the first in the country to benefit from new state-of-the-art digital breast screening equipment.

The new technology is currently being trialled at a mobile screening unit at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital.

The equipment enables more women to be examined, instant images are given and less radiation is used than in usual screening methods.

A spokeswoman said it will mean a fast and reliable breast screening service.

Margot Wheaton, programme manager, said: "Instead of having the film, just like a digital camera this new equipment has the image displayed on a computer screen.

"The images are available instantly the picture is taken and hopefully we will find it easier to report and diagnose breast cancer."
