Passenger terminal inquiry begins
Coventry Airport
The hearing is expected to last four weeks
A public inquiry into whether a temporary passenger terminal at Coventry Airport was built without permission is to start on Tuesday.

Thomsonfly passenger flights from the airport in Baginton began last March and owners TUI hope to cater for up to two million passengers a year.

A temporary terminal was erected but Warwick District Council said planning permission had not been granted.

A hearing to examine the issue is expected to last four weeks.

A second inquiry into an appeal by the airport against the council's rejection of plans for a new permanent passenger terminal will be held at a later date.

The council refused permission because of traffic, noise and pollution concerns.

Coventry Airport has said it needs the new facilities to offer a better service for passengers using its flights to several European destinations.
