Arson attack on football stadium
Police are investigating an arson attack at a 113m football stadium which is still under construction.

Fire crews from Foleshill, Coventry, Binley and Solihull, were called to the fire at the Coventry Arena development in Phoenix Way on Tuesday evening.

A number of pallets containing about 300 plastic seats, which were waiting to be installed in the stands, were set alight and engulfed by the blaze.

West Midlands Fire Service are also investigating the incident.

Work on the Arena development started in January 2003 and is due to be completed this August.

Coventry City Football Club are expected to move to the 32,000-seat stadium before the start of next season.

The Arena project is planned as a multi-purpose complex, with dining and conference facilities, a music venue, a hotel and a casino.
