A feasibility study is being carried out on plans for a Cornish stadium. Experts will look at different locations across the county which could host the 10,000 capacity sports and entertainment centre. It has been proposed that the stadium would have 4,500 seats and act as a venue for major sporting events as well as pop concerts. Cornwall Council said the stadium would help nurture regional sporting talent to compete on a national scale. 'Tourism industry' The council also said it was considering working with Truro City and the Cornish Pirates and would ideally like a team to be based on the site. It has also been proposed that the venue could host music events helping to boost the tourism industry. Cornwall Council cabinet member Carolyn Rule said: "We are proud of the great achievements sports men and women from this region have made. "Unfortunately to reach the highest level they have had to move out of the County. Leisure facilities "The stadium would help to retain, nurture and develop talent to achieve the highest levels." As well as hosting large scale events, it is proposed that revenue could be generated for the venue through facilities such as a hotel and other leisure facilities. It is expected that the study will be completed by the autumn.
