Civilians could be moved into police work to increase frontline officers
Up to 100 extra officers will be going back on the beat in Devon and Cornwall according to the Chief Constable.

Stephen Otter's five-year vision for the force is expected to involve bringing in more civilians to release officers onto the front line.

Mr Otter, whose plans are still under discussion, wants to increase the public's satisfaction rating which according to the force is 82%.

The Police Federation said it also wanted to see more beat officers.

Mr Otter, who took over the force in October last year, said: "A top performing force is one that delivers a service that the maximum number of people are satisfied with and have confidence in."
