The kickboxing champ wanted to lose weight after having twins |
A Cornish mother, who is a world champion fighter, is hoping her combat skills will win her a place on an American television show. Julie Kitchen, from Hayle, tops the rankings for women's kickboxing, with two world championships.
The 30-year-old took up the sport because she wanted to lose weight after the birth of her twin daughters.
Her success has attracted a US network which wants to base a reality show on martial arts and fighting skills.
"I can't say too much about it other than it will be based around fighting and martial arts and it will be filmed in San Francisco.
"It's certainly nothing like Big Brother," she said.
She has been training every day for several years and, with the help of her husband and kickboxing coach, holds 11 belts.
Unlike Big Brother
She won the Women's International Kick Boxing Association title in the 63.6kg (140lb) division.
In Cornwall at the gym she runs with her husband, Mrs Kitchen said her whole family was proud of her.
"They've been wonderful - I feel sorry for the girls, it's all we ever talk about."
Mrs Kitchen hopes to hear if she has made it through to the show by the end of the month and if she has, she wants to attract more kickboxing coverage.
