Increase in low-cost homes built
New figures show a rise in the number of affordable homes built in Cornwall.

More than 500 affordable homes were built last year with 700 scheduled for the next financial year.

In Penwith, 104 low-cost homes were built, up from 81 in 2005/06. The council said the Affordable Homes Task Force was the reason for the rise.

North Cornwall saw 105 new homes built, while Restormel had 111. Over the last three years 1,000 new affordable homes have been built in the county.

In 2006, 31 homes were sold under the Right to Buy, a scheme whereby council tenants can buy their homes.
