The warship HMS Cornwall is leaving its Devonport base to join the UK mission Operation Telic in Iraq. The Type 22 frigate will be away for the next seven months.
As part of her duties, HMS Cornwall will help protect Iraqi offshore oil rigs, with the ship's crew supporting training of the Iraqi Navy.
She will also take part in maritime security operations in the Arabian Gulf, including the policing of shipping routes.
HMS Cornwall is part of the Devonport Flotilla.
