County needs more traveller sites
Cornwall needs about 150 additional gypsy and traveller sites by 2011, a new report has found.

The report, compiled by Cornish district councils, looked at the accommodation needs for travelling communities over the next 10 years.

It found 147 residential pitches were needed within five years, and up to 45 temporary transit sites.

The sites are needed following a 13% increase in Cornwall's traveller population between 2003 and 2005.

The county now has one of the highest proportions of unauthorised encampments in England.
