Local fears over recycling plans
Plans for a recycling centre which will take asbestos have worried some local residents who live near the proposed site in Cornwall.

Sita UK, the preferred bidder for the county's new 500m waste contract, wants the recycling facility at Newlyn Coombe, near Penzance.

If approved, the recycling centre will take household waste, such as furniture, scrap metal, and asbestos.

Sita UK said it could not comment until it had signed the waste contract.

A final decision on the application will be made by county planners.

Asbestos is only dangerous to health if fibres are inhaled.
