A large portion of Trafalgar Square, in central London, will disappear under a carpet of more than 70,000 plants from a Cornish nursery this August. Kernock Park Plants of Pillaton near Saltash is creating the display for an event promoting French wines.
The flower bed will depict the wines of the Loire Valley.
It is the biggest project the company has taken on, and involves an age old tradition which has been adapted for the computer age.
Computer designer Chris Harnett said: "We've got the design for Trafalgar Square in a square grid, so we can pick it in the nursery and install it in one night.
"It's definitely the biggest one we've done."
Company managing director Bruce Harnett said: "The actual design has incorporated into it some of the Loire Valley so there's a rose, a champagne and a white."
