Flights to St Mary's have increased to up to 25 a day |
Work to modernise the Isles of Scilly Airport has been completed. Part of the building on St Mary's island, much of which was built in the 1970s, was demolished and rebuilt to cope with passenger number increases.
The number of flights coming into the airport has risen from seven or eight a day to 25 in recent years.
Airport manager Alan Hicks said people now expected more from airports and that the work had brought the facilities up to the latest standards.
As part of the work, the arrivals hall has now been completely rebuilt with a bigger baggage handling area. There is also a new meeting room.
