Residents criticise water company
Water tap (generic)
There are claims that helpline staff are being unhelpful
South West Water is being condemned by some local residents for disrupting supplies to a village in Cornwall.

The company is currently upgrading the mains supply to Crackington Haven in north Cornwall, which was badly damaged by flash floods in August.

One resident said he would get his water supply from elsewhere if he possibly could.

South West Water has apologised to anyone who feels the level of inconvenience is unacceptable.

Basic essential

Robert Holmes from Dizzard near Crackington Haven says he has complained about the response from some of the people staffing the company's helpline.

He said: "One of the girls suggested my wife go out to the shops and buy some water.

"I'd be interested to see how she could pour it into the washing machine or dishwasher, and anyway why should we?

"Water is a very basic essential and is far more essential than anything else is this country and to be deprived of it is just not acceptable."
