Fly tippers are warned after case
Fly-tipping
Rubbish will be examined to help trace fly tippers
The Environment Agency in Cornwall says that fly tipping is anti social and unnecessary.

The warning came after a Cornwall man appeared in court for dumping a trailer load of household waste.

The agency identified Graham Pound, from Menheniot near Liskeard, by paperwork found among the waste.

East Cornwall magistrates were told that Pound, from Colmers Row at Menheniot, dumped household waste at Tilland Mill near Tideford.

It included a settee, a mattress, plastic boxes and bin bags full of papers.

The agency was alerted by a call to its hotline.

Pound pleaded guilty to tipping on unlicensed land and was ordered to pay costs of 250 and given a conditional discharge.

After the case, an agency spokesman said: "Fly tipping is anti social and damages the environment.

"It was also costly to clean up with taxpayers meeting the bill.

The agency is encouraging people to phone its hotline, 0800 807060, to report incidents of fly tipping.
