Beautiful Boscastle: Residents fear visitors will leave |
People living in Boscastle, Cornwall, say a new sewage treatment works in the village will cause smell and noise problems. Locals are opposing plans for the development near the village's main car park.
South West Water (SWW) says it is the only suitable site and its plans will stop untreated effluent going into the sea.
Residents says it is the wrong location and visitors will not like it.

Yvonne Gaskell owns the Boscastle Rock Shop, said: "The smell's going to be terrible. "Imagine arriving at one of Britain's best beauty spots and smelling that.
"If it was me, I'd get straight in the car and go again.
"It's a conservation area. We can't do anything to destroy the area, so why should they do it?"
Villagers want SWW to install a treatment works which uses systems including ultra violet treatment to kill all viruses and bacteria.
Treatment rows
South West Water said in a statement that the treatment it proposes meets the European standards under the Urban Waste Water Directive.
Primary treatment is the appropriate standard set by the Environment Agency and it says it is satisfied that meets the legislation.
The water company has faced similar objections to the location and level of treatment of other proposed works on the Lizard, the Roseland Peninsula and at Polperro.
The National Trust, which owns part of the land, is also pressing for a higher level of treatment.
Meanwhile, visitors to Kynance Cove on the Lizard will soon be enjoying the latest facilities - although they might not notice.
A new self-contained sewage system from toilets at a cafe is to be covered by a turf roof and powered by high tech solar electric roof tiles as part of an 800,000 investment in the cove by the National Trust.
