The zoo says Bosley will eventually be released back in Boscastle
A duckling is recovering at a Cornish zoo after being rescued from the Boscastle floods last Monday.

The duckling, which has been named Bosley, was rescued by holidaymakers as it struggled in the torrent of water sweeping through the village.

After several attempts the terrified baby Mallard was saved by Paul and Mandy Rice from West Yorkshire.

It is being looked after at Newquay Zoo, which says it will be released when it is stronger.

He is a strong little character and one very lucky duckling

Mr and Mrs Rice cared for the duckling overnight at their holiday caravan in Porthtowan, before taking it to Newquay Zoo.

Mrs Rice said: "The duckling was really struggling and kept going under water.

"We could not see mum anywhere and believe she may have been swept away, so we kept hold of the youngster."

Wendy Winstanley from the zoo says Bosley will be taken back to Boscastle for release, when he has been paired with another duckling and is a little stronger.

She said: "He is a strong little character and one very lucky duckling."
