Guest house dream all washed up
Helicopter over Boscastle
People were left trapped in cars, homes and trees
A couple from Halstead who retired and moved to Boscastle in Cornwall have had plans to open a bed-and-breakfast guest house destroyed by flooding.

John and Denise Tillinghast moved to the West Country four years ago and bought their dream property in 2003.

They spent the last year renovating an 18th century slate-roofed house and hoped to open later in this summer.

Denise said: "That's now unlikely to happen after the flash floods caused so much damage."

The devastating floods last week arrived when the whole of August's average rainfall hit the area in the space of two hours.
