Neighbourhood policing conference
Neighbourhood beat managers could be introduced throughout Devon and Cornwall in the next year.

The future of neighbourhood policing is being discussed by police officers at a conference on Wednesday.

There are currently more than 300 neighbourhood beat managers in Devon and Cornwall.

Neighbourhood beat managers deal with issues within their local area and work alongside members of the community to solve problems.

They are designed to provide a more visible police presence on the streets and to make the police service more accessible to local people.

The police conference is being held at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
