Staff at the beachside caf alerted the emergency services
Five people have been rescued after the inflatable dinghy they were in began drifting out to sea off the coast of Cornwall.

The three adults and two children were in the water off Gorran Haven when they ran into difficulties on Monday.

Brixham Coastguards co-ordinated the rescue of the family who began drifting at about 1230 BST.

They were alerted by staff at the beachside caf and the Fowey Lifeboat was scrambled to go to their aid.

The inflatable had drifted towards rocks at the end of the pier.

Coastguards say the family managed to climb onto the rocks where they were rescued by the lifeboat with the help of the Mevagissey coastguard team.

They are now being treated by ambulance crews at Mevagissey.

One of the people involved is thought to have suffered chest injuries.

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy has been rescued from rocks off Pendeen Light.

The teenager was swimming with his brother when he became stuck on the rocks.

He was picked up by the Sennen inshore lifeboat, and was cared for by the St Just coastguard team who say he is safe and well.
