Store's 'Cornish food' pledge
Tesco
The survey revealed there is support for a distinctive emblem
A supermarket chain has decided to sell more produce from Cornwall after questioning shoppers about what they wanted in store.

Tesco recruited an independent research company to ask people in Cornish stores what they wanted from supermarkets.

It showed that people are extremely patriotic and are passionate about buying more locally-produced food and drink.

But the customers questioned said it was currently too difficult to identify which items were from Cornwall, or provided by local suppliers.

The company says it will now make more of an effort to highlight Cornish lines.

It also wants to make it easier for shoppers to buy products sourced regionally.

The survey also revealed there is support for a distinctive emblem to advertise Cornish food.

That has resulted in the St Piran flag and county crest being used on labelling.
