Affordable homes boost
house signs
House prices have risen significantly in Cornwall in the past two years
Work will start shortly on building affordable homes for first-time buyers in Cornwall.

It comes as the huge increase in prices in the county mean many people are unable to get a foot on the housing ladder.

Many people in the county say buying a home is almost impossible, because of soaring property prices and the second home market in the region.

In June builders will start work on 19 one-bedroom flats at Treleigh Court in Redruth.

They are being built specifically for first-time buyers in Cornwall.

Prices are expected to start at 68,500 and in cases of genuine hardship deposits of just 250 will be acceptable.
