City councillors have approved the amended plans for the new stadium

Plans for Bristol City Football Club's £92m stadium have been given the go-head by the city council.

The green light was given after the plans went before the council for a second time following amendments to the application made by the club.

Councillors voted eight-to-one in favour of the plans at the meeting.

The club had been asked to resubmit plans three months ago over concerns about their proposal to build a housing estate next to the stadium.

An access road next to Long Ashton's park and ride was also refused by neighbouring North Somerset Council.

The site is on greenbelt land meaning it also needs government approval.

North Somerset Council have yet to set a date to discuss access routes to the ground.
