Runners worried over 'late packs'

Runners who have entered this Sunday's Bristol half marathon have been urged not to worry if they have not yet received their race packs.

Some entrants have complained to the BBC that they were still waiting to learn their number.

Race director Georgette Van Hoof said she wanted to reassure runners without a pack they can collect their number at the race village on Saturday or Sunday.

Or they can contact the organisers through their website.

Ms Van Hoof said: "We had expected all the race packs to have arrived by Monday, but I understand that some of that won't actually arrive until today.

"But I do want to reassure runners there's not a problem. They either need to contact [our website] or they can come down to the village on Saturday, or they can come down on race morning."

She added that although they had found the post an effective way of distributing race packs, if the event became big enough, she would like in future to hold a public fair for entrants to collect them for themselves.
