More than 400 volunteers are being sought to help marshal the route of the Bristol Half Marathon.

Race organisers said they would prefer people over 18, but would be interested to hear from organised groups of young people.

People volunteering are required to work between 0800 and approximately 1400 BST on Sunday, 14 September.

Jobs include handing out water, directing spectators and giving medals and goodie bags to competitors.

A race spokeswoman said their help would make the day a success.

"Without the support of local volunteers, the Bristol Half Marathon simply couldn't happen," she said.

"This year we are asking volunteers to work with our official charities, which means not only supporting the half-marathon - but also supporting the work of Children's Hospice UK and St Peter's Hospice."
