The lavatory, in the Totterdown area of Bristol, measures 24ft by 13ft and is expected to fetch upwards of �25,000.

The stone-clad property, owned by Bristol City Council, has a male and female toilet block. It is being marketed by agents Maggs and Allen.

They describe it as: "A single-storey building situated in a prominent position: would be suitable for redevelopment, subject to consents."

Anna Maggs of the company said the property was attracting lots of interest.

She said: "We have been quite shocked with the amount of enquires we have had so far."

Maggs and Allen are auctioning the building for Bristol City Council after it became "surplus to requirements".

The estate agents have given the toilet a guide price of �25,000 but it is thought the final price could be much higher.

The property was due to be auctioned at Bristol Golf Club on 17 May.
