Young decoys have been used to help expose the selling of alcohol to underage drinkers in Bristol. Using 14 and 15-year-olds, a trading standards team visited seven premises in Bishopsworth and Bedminster.
Posing as underage drinkers, the decoys were sold alcohol by sales assistants at three sites in Bedminster.
Under new powers, on the spot �80 fines were issued to the sales assistants. Two of the sites were visited as a result of tip-offs.
The new powers have been granted to local authorities to help crack down on under-age drinking and related anti-social behaviour and reduce young people's exposure to alcohol.
Bristol City councillor Gary Hopkins said: " We know the public are concerned about the problems caused in our communities by drinking and we will continue to put efforts and resources into tackling the issue."
