The site will recycle household chemicals
A 600,000 recycling centre in South Gloucestershire is due to open for business on Monday.

The centre is on the old Dairy Crest site in Short Way, Thornbury Industrial Estate, and will accept all household waste for recycling and disposal.

Councillor Shirley Potts said: "The council is committed to recycling and we expect to raise our recycling rates to more than 40% this year.

"This new facility in Thornbury will make it even easier."

The SORT IT Centre will recycle metals, wood, rubble and soil, cardboard, paper, cans, glass bottles and jars, and will compost green waste.

The site will also dispose and recycle household chemicals, car batteries, gas bottles and asbestos.

It replaces the temporary civic amenity site that had been operating from Thornbury Leisure Centre car park.
