Students: drink in moderation
Police are linking up with students in Bristol to try and encourage sensible drinking - and to tackle problems of disorder and anti-social behaviour.

The message from The University of Bristol's students' union is "By all means drink, but drink in moderation."

A poster to this effect will appear in pubs from the end of May - when students are completing their exams.

The Bristol Against Disorder Initiative set up to tackle anti-social behaviour in the city, supports the scheme.

Inspector Mike Cox said: "We are aware that anti-social behaviour, often caused by excessive drinking, is a problem.

"Students can often be easy targets for crime, especially at the end of a long night out and several drinks.

"By working with the local licensing trade and the students themselves we want to ensure that their exam celebrations end sensibly, safely and securely."
