Friends walk for new limbs
Megan Sims
Ms Sims says her friends and family have been "brilliant"
The friends and family of a woman who had both her legs and hands amputated are raising money for prosthetic limbs.

Megan Sims from Shirehampton, Bristol, fears she will never get artificial legs on the NHS, so she can walk again.

Doctors have told her it is very difficult for a person to adapt to using two prosthetic limbs.

So friends have rallied around and organised a sponsored walk to help raise money for the limbs themselves.

Ms Sims' condition has yet to be diagnosed.

It isn't that dreadful if you have a strong heart, a good mind, and good people. You strive to do your best, that is all you can do

It started as suspected arthritis but turned into a disease that took over her whole body.

She originally lost her left leg and then in June, her right leg and both her hands.

Ms Sims told the BBC: "I can't do housework or make a cup of tea. I need help every step of the way.

"My family and friends have been brilliant: without them, I dread to think what would have happened.

"It isn't that dreadful if you have a strong heart, a good mind, and good people. You strive to do your best, that is all you can do," she added.
