New train timetables introduced
A First Great Western train
First said it addressed concerns during a consultation process
Commuters on the Thames Valley railways face significant changes to their journeys from Monday.

First Great Western, which runs train services in Berkshire and Oxfordshire, brought in the new timetable on Sunday.

The changes are a result of three previous train franchises being integrated into one for the region.

Newbury MP Richard Benyon criticised the company for cutting its late night service from London, but there is a new fast train into London in the morning.

Ten-year contract

First Great Western has brought in the new timetable after long and heated negotiations during a consultation process carried out earlier this year.

The company has to pay the Treasury more than 1bn under its new 10-year contract.

First Great Western said it had addressed most of the concerns raised by passengers about the changes during the consultation process.
