A man was electrocuted after falling on to a live rail line in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday. The body of the man was hit by the first Reading to Waterloo service of the day near to Wokingham, Berkshire.
Police say the victim, thought to be about 30 years old and from the Reading area, was already dead when struck.
Sergeant Jeff Perkins, of British Transport Police, told BBC News Online: "Although it is largely unexplained at the moment we are not treating it as suspicious and it does not look like a deliberate act.
'Tragic accident'
"It would appear to be a tragic accident in as much as he was perhaps walking along the side of the track, lost his footing and fell."
The body was found at around 0615 BST close to Smith's Crossing at the back of Gypsy Lane.
The driver of the 0554 BST train to Waterloo stopped the train when he spotted the body but could not avoid partially striking it.
A post mortem examination has yet to take place but police have already confirmed the man had been electrocuted.
The name of the victim is not expected to be released until his family have formally identified him.
