Investigation into factory fire

Police advised residents to shut doors and windows and stay inside

An investigation is taking place into a fire at an unoccupied engineering factory in Bedfordshire, believed to have been caused by vandalism.

Forty firefighters tackled the fire at the factory, known locally as Kent Meters, at Pondwicks Road in Luton.

A cordon was set up as a precaution as firefighters were unsure whether acetylene gas cylinders were inside.

Police advised residents to shut doors and windows and stay inside because of a large plume of smoke over the area.
