The man who was pulled from a swollen river in Bedfordshire has been named by police. James Mabey, 46, of Cotterill Way in Bedford was rescued from the south side of the embankment of the River Ouse in the town on Tuesday.
Mr Mabey was taken to Bedford Hospital South Wing where he died. The cause of death has been given as immersion.
An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned by Bedford coroner David Morris.
