Train evacuated after engine fire
A train was evacuated at Bedford Railway Station after a fire in the engine compartment.

The Midland Mainline train - which had eight carriages - was travelling to Derby from London when the fire started on Thursday afternoon.

Passengers were asked to leave the train and staff used portable extinguishers to put the fire out.

Bedford Fire Service said the blaze was due to oil burning on the compressor, which operates the airbrakes.
