Yarl's Wood jury sent home
Yarl's Wood
The jury in the trial has been sent home for the weekend
Jurors deciding if five men started the fire at Yarl's Wood detention centre have been sent home until Monday.

The judge made the decision - at the trial of five men accused of taking part in arson attacks on the asylum centre - after legal arguments on Thursday.

More than half of the Yarl's Wood centre in Bedfordshire was destroyed by fire after rioting broke out in February last year.

Lucky Jacobs, 23, Henry Momodou, 39, Kayode Abdul, 24, Behar Limani, 26, and Jgergi Tuka, 25, all deny one count of violent disorder at the Home Office detention centre in February 2002.

After a lengthy summing-up following the three-month trial at Harrow Crown Court, Judge Roger Sanders sent out the jury to begin considering its verdicts on Wednesday.

He told the seven men and four women: "It has taken some time but that's no surprise, bearing in mind the actual evidence spanned some eight or nine weeks to deliver."

The jury's consideration was delayed by the legal arguments on Thursday.
