Environment agency staff have been preparing the Yorkshire region for possible flooding ahead of heavy rain. More than 350 sites are being monitored across Yorkshire and the North East. A spokesperson said: "In readiness, staff are checking pumping stations are operating and that watercourses are clear from obstruction. "Our own forecasters are working with Met Office colleagues to ensure that timely flood warnings can be issued when needed." The public have been advised to keep updated through news outlets and to call the Floodline on 0845 988 1188. North East England and Yorkshire have heavy rain forecast for the next couple of days.
