Network Rail is under pressure to complete the works on time |
Rail passengers will face disruption over the Easter break due to engineering work on parts of the country's rail network. Euston station in London will be closed to Virgin West Coast services as works are scheduled on the West Coast line at Rugby in the West Midlands.
The country's largest railway station - Clapham Junction - will also be affected by a major works over Easter.
Network Rail was criticised following overruns at the New Year.
'Better service'
The company is under pressure to ensure this next batch of bank holiday projects are completed on time.
Chief executive Iain Coucher said: "While we know that our plans affect passengers' plans, the demands on our rail network are growing and we need to invest to deliver a better service for everyone.
"Our challenge is to do this invisibly, to get in, rip up the old railway, put in a new better one, and then get out on time, while causing the least amount of disruption possible."
Another of the engineering overruns at the New Year was at Liverpool Street station in London.
Easter work there will affect National Express East Anglia services.
