Cash to help occupy town's youth
Hundreds of children and young people are set to benefit from new activities thanks to a 90,000 Big Lottery grant.

A bid by Darlington Council has been accepted in principle and a more detailed bid is being submitted.

The money will be used in the North Road area to provide events for five to 19-year-olds over three years.

These will include taster sessions for activities, and the young people will then decide which ones they want to repeat or extend.

Pupils from Longfield Comprehensive, Corporation Road Primary, Harrowgate Hill Primary and North Road Primary schools will benefit from the money as well as other young people living in the North Road area.

The Big Lottery fund is expected to make its final decision on awarding the money in July.
