Fewer people are reporting graffiti vandalism in the East Midlands.

Derby, Lincoln and Leicester councils say they are receiving less complaints, while Nottingham City Council says the figures are holding steady.

According to Lincoln City Council, the number of graffiti reports have fallen from 238 in 2002/3 to a predicted 124 this year (based on current rates).

In Leicester, there has been a fall in reports over three years from 2,104 in 2002 to last year's tally of 1,600.

Derby City Council says it has also noticed a reduction, but was unable to provide exact figures.

Nottingham City Council says graffiti in the city centre is decreasing, but this has been off-set by a rise in other parts of the city, such as Radford and New Basford.

The 362 cases of graffiti reported in Nottingham last year covered 5,519 square metres, and about a quarter of it was deemed racist or offensive.
