Replica weapons will be banned from sale, under the rules
Replica guns and fireworks are to be banned from being put on sale at Darlington outdoor market.

Darlington Council's cabinet agreed to a new set of regulations at its meeting on Tuesday night.

They include a ban on the sale of ornamental weapons, replica guns, fireworks or anything else considered to be a risk to market visitors.

Other points included are banning traders from encouraging the public to gather around their stalls.

Anything sold at the market must comply with minimum age requirements determined by trading standards and anything which contravenes their controls will also be banned.

The market officer will now be able to remove people who are causing a nuisance.

The council said the aim of the regulations was to make the market a safer place for traders and members of the public.
