Rail passengers using Midland Mainline (MML) suffered cancellations on Sunday after an overhead cable came down and hit a train cab window. The driver, from Derby, suffered cuts and was treated in hospital.
The accident, between Bedford and Luton, happened just after midday as a high-speed train was travelling south.
It forced the cancellation of train services south of Leicester. Midland Mainline said the services were returning to normal on Monday morning.
Buses were laid on to take passengers between Bedford and London.
Other operators accepted Midland Mainline tickets for essential travel, the company said.
Normal services operated between Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Sheffield.
