Police road safety warning
Car crash
There has already been a large number of road fatalities
A senior Lincolnshire Police officer has responded to the county's high rate of road deaths with a stark warning to motorists.

The force is currently involved in Operation Falcon, an enforcement campaign introduced after a spate of road deaths in the county.

The number of of people killed increased to 29 on Thursday.

Superintendent Terry Hackett, from police headquarters, said: "There is a 50% compliance with seat belts. That is a dreadful figure.

"This safety problem is shown in the number of vehicle defects and the amount of drink driving that is going on.

"It's also down to the excessive speeds used in Lincolnshire.

"I say now we are going to enforce the law. The Lincolnshire public must know that the rates of deaths and injuries on our roads are totally unacceptable."
